I can't afford a degree but I want to be a programmer. What should I do so I can get a decent job without a degree ?

Tcs provide job opportunity for those who don't have degree but having Great knowledge programming and some common subjects of computer science like data structure , operating system . For that you have to search about tcs NQT exams there will be 2 or 3 rounds written test including reasoning maths programming ..once you clear written test there will be technical and HR interview .

like ipang suggested, build a portfolio, work some projects try to challenge your self and show it on github, also try LinkedIn

Maybe you can try to take up projects independently from people who are willing to trust you and want some website/app.

Build a decent portfolio, and networks (with people I mean). Having both of these, you might just make it, be as an employee, or better, owns your very company. No easy thing, but not impossible either : )

Sachin Verma ,if you have qualified your higher secondary education, then try to attend interview conducted by zoho university, if you got selected in that, you will be provided education for free in that university along with stipend amount. After finishing your education there, they will help u in attending and getting selected in their own zoho company with good payscale. Only thing they need from you is the skills and self-interest in learning new technologies.
