How is memory management relevant with respect to modern powerful computers?

Back in the day when the processing power was low and memory was lesser, it made sense to have memory managed by our program. But is it necessary to learn in the modern times when these are not important issues anymore?

Ofcourse! Back in the day you didn't have fancy websites, cool mobile apps, amazing games and much more...sure computers are having faster rams,cpus,gpus but programs are also getting more complex. Besides, memory is a resource that a user has bought to run programs, it would be unethical to utilize unneccessary resources.
