What is extendible and linear hashing is?

Question

I figured I could try to figure it out, since its a way of verifying if something matches? Our professor didn't explain it too well and I would need it to access files for the assignment.
But after some attempts of looking at hashing? I' not sure if its a built in function I can figure out to use or build one myself. Which I don't know how to start.
If anyone can lead me to the right direction, I'd appreciate it. 🙇‍♀️

The problem with static hashing is that it does not expand or shrink dynamically as the size of the database grows or shrinks. Dynamic hashing provides a mechanism in which data buckets are added and removed dynamically and on-demand. Dynamic hashing is also known as extended hashing.
