What benefits more learning multiple languages or mastering a single language?

Here I mean knowing the basics of different languages. On the other side knowing a language completely and mastering it.

Mastering one probably could help you alot. Not because the actual language but because you inherently use algorithmic thinking which is the foundation of all programming languages. Sure, you may still need time to learn other languages but you can relate to your past experiences better and that can speed up the learning process. My way of thinking at least.

I think, if you want to do job in any MNC then you should master in 1 language but if you want to own your company then you should know every language that will help you....
