Build programs with both languages, it will help you learn about both of them and help you distinguish each special features of the languages.

The only reason why Ruby became popular is because of it’s rails framework. Nowadays however it is on it’s way down in terms of popularity. whereas python is on the rise.

I would say focus on one until you get really good at it and then try others. Syntax varies from language to language but the basic programming principles remain very similar. Once you think like a programmer, any language will be easier. But it's highly recommended that you get very good at one first. Hopping all over will only confuse you. One of my managers once told me that if I was the best at one thing I'd always have a job. Doesn't matter what that one thing is as long as I am the best at it. That being said, I'm a Python learner so my opinion is a little impartial toward telling you to start with Python.

This is a very good question and infact a very common one! Developers need to know which tool is best consumable. Hopefully, bf you joined this Journey as a Dev, probably you knew what you wanted to solve in life. If not, then this is my view... 1. Ruby on Rails is somewhat more popular as a web development tool than Python-If you consider Django over Flask. 2.Python is favored more in the academic and scientific parlance esp in Data Science,AI ,Machine Learning,Deep learning,Automations and heavy Numerical computations. I would Advice you go Python way esp if you need to go in the line I've mentioned above... 3.Python has a great open source community/ Developers and it's awesome.
