Using Mac TextEdit

Question

I'm having trouble adding the attribute lines (ex. "50px" or "10%" lines). They're showing up as straight lines across the page instead of where I command them in Text Edit but when I use SoloLearn code playground, it does exactly what I say. Can someone help with this?

I would recommend you download one of the following programs to use for writing code, instead of text edit:
1. Atom
2. Sublime Text
3. Brackets (my favorite, not not the most feature rich.)
