I won't say it's not good since I haven't written code for such, but in the real world C++ is more preferable for building games

We use to make a few ruby games around the shop - nothing for the public - just goofing around... It is not one of my first gotos as Python or C++... really started having more fun with simple JavaScript libraries...
Like every language Ruby has its pros and cons.... look forward to seeing what you come up with...

Not sure, but many reliable options are (but not limited to) C++ with SDL2 or SFML or you can use C# with unity, or use python and pygame. Good luck!

Generally you don't want to use interpreted languages for performance critical tasks.
As others have mentioned, C++ and C# are the go to standards. Ruby is mostly used for the web development and is highly dependent on its framework Rails.

C++ is the preferred language for video game programming. Its the only language they taught me in college for it - and most of my professors were video game programmers who’ve agreed that C++ with OOP mindset is essentially the industry standard.
