¿How can I build a matrix route using a 4x4 board and marking a specific place where i need to get to?

I'm currently working on a search and rescue robot, we are going to use a 4x4 grid wich has a randomly selected spot to where the robot has to get to, i need to find a way to send a predefined route to the robot, by just knowing the position of the object i need to rescue.
