Yes. Before that learning c helps you but not meaning necessarily, you can learn directly java also..

It is really helpful to begin with c programming language because it is the oldest one(the syntax is bit hard comparing to other programming languages such as python and java)eventhough it will seems hard if you are a beginner
Which is mostly given to backend engeneers
However if you are interested in frontend and creating mobile application you can dive in with sql,php and css ,html,javascript for websites
