Artificial Intelligence is, to put it simply, when a computer is programmed to perform human tasks.
Machine Learning is one method of manually teaching a robot/computer to complete tasks through essentially a version of trial and error, where a human informs the robot/computer if its decision/answer is correct or not, and the robot/computer learns from that feedback.
Therefore, I guess you could say that machine learning is one method of advancing or teaching artificial intelligence.
