How to change text in UI?

Question

I'm new to coding, and now I'm trying to make an app that displays information. The information should be editable by the user, by pressing a button or image. Does anyone know how to do that? Perhaps I need FireBase for this as well?

I'm now coding an app in Android Studio, using Java.
