Should I use Python or R for Data Science?

I'm studying Data Science in Python, and I'm start thinking that maybe using R is a better option. What do you guys think?

Python is a general purpose language, while R is specifically designed for statistics and data analysis. In terms of data science, they both have similar capabilities. You don't lose anything by choosing Python. R is mostly only used in academics, Python is preferred in business. I tried R and personally I think its syntax is a bit obscure and weird, so it did not grow on me.
