Arrays all of a sudden?

Why you automatically assume user knows how to use arrays when it has not been explained in previous parts?

They're showing how to input a string. There isn't really any assumption that the learner knows anything about arrays at this point IMO. Often when learning something new things will be introduced without an explanation at that point in time only to circle back to it later. To me this is the equivalent of someone writing a hello world day 1 without any explanation of main. You wouldn't say, that they are using functions all of a sudden would you? Or types? Or syntax? Etc
