Learn how to touch type if you haven't already done so. Then learn how to write simple scripts on the command line before progressing to learn a programming language .

It doesn't really matter which language you choose to learn first. However, you should keep in mind that learning a simple language, like HTML and Python, makes it easier to learn the harder/more complex languages, like Visual Basic and C#. Also, if you plan on making a career out of computer programming, you should probably learn a few different languages, which will allow you to develop a broad range of programs/apps for clients.
