Download the Ubuntu Distro (easy to work with) on to your computer. You can flash it to a usb. Then boot into Ubuntu from the usb. You can try it out and if you like it, go ahead and either reallocate space so you can put it on a PART of your computer. Or just completley chuck windows out of the window and go for the full linux distro.
