Not necessary but it always help to know how the things at back end work, In order to make your UI even more effective.

PHP is for back end, but front end without backend has limitations. That's why I think it makes sense to learn it.

Php is for back-end. You can learn CSS and javascript for front-end.

I wouldn't recommend it for front end.For that use html,css and javascript for the most part.You could still use php if you want dynamic content for your page
