Equality

I don't know the difference between the 'is' statement and the '=='. I thought they're meant to perform the same function??

is means more literally "This is that". Like I have a friend named Samantha. I call her Sam. Sam IS Samantha == means is equal to. Let's say i have a truck. A Ford F150. My buddy has the same truck! My truck is equal to his truck BUT my truck is not his truck because we obviously have two different vehicles (they have the same value though).
