it depends on how much time you can dedicate to learning the program. there is alot of memorizing and practicing but it is easy to learn. 1 - 2 weeks would give you the lef up to provide you with more knowledge than you previously had.

A master never stops learning :-)
Look at a html5 framework like bootstrap! Try to use it, understand it, adapt it. Try to write your own based on a "boilerplate". This is not done in a few weeks.

HTML5 is similar to learning HTML4. However, the layout structure is more transparent but more attributes have been introduced so there's more to learn. like Rich said, about 1 to 1/2 to get HTML5.
