For games I would suggest you c++ or c#!!! With those you could make every type of game, on every plattform (Xbox, PS, Pc, Mobile,....With a game engine!!)

Python can be the right thing for you. First learn the basics, then try a framework like "pygame". But basically you can write games in any language, depending on what game it should be.
