Oracle is discontinuing Java plugins. Not Java entirely. Basically, don't learn applets since it'll be a waste of time and you'll be fine.

Applet was an application that ran in a browser via plugin. Since browsers are discontinuing plugins, applets are useless. Is why Oracle is discontinuing support for them

I believe by the lack of response to the last question and just by observing the key points of advice from James, it would be suffice to say "Moving On!" with a smile and a warm heart. I have only just begun to open my eyes to the world of code... and Im truly excited for whats to come!
