What's the difference between web server and application server?

Web server accepts and deliver static content such as HTML pages,images,files etc while Application server exposing business logic delivers dynamic contents. Other major difference is Web server only uses HTTP protocol while Application server can use other protocols besides HTTP to provide business logic.

Abu Mohammed it depends on can you able to provide those functionalities by the same language.Web server is okay but for application server you need GUI and dynamic data based language ;application server utilise more resources
