Yes and kind of. Depending on how big your project is, there can be hundreds to thousands of lines of code. Many people work on big games together, so its easier to complete. There are definetly benefits from knowing a lot of the language you are working with. It can save time, memory, and loading time. This doesn't mean you won't be able to create games without knowing a lot of the language you are using, but it would definetly benefit you and the amount time you spend coding. The new libraries and concepts, etc, are learned over time. Just do what you can with what you have, and if you can't do much, then learn what to do what you want to do.
