Is there an easy way to change theme on the windows' preinstalled notepad application?
The notepad very handy for mofifying any types of text files, but I don't like its white theme. Can I easily change the theme without fumbling with screen's color filters? Is the notepad's source code somewhere available?

I think that's a no, and no.
Just use a code editor like sublime text instead, that way you have hotkeys and plugins always at hand, plus your favourite color theme, plus sublime text doesn't have a heart attack when you try to open files >50MB unlike notepad.exe.
Notepad is alright, I use it for quick to-do lists, but vscode for coding and sublime for file editing is a great workflow, I can only recommend it.
