Yes but you'd need a lot more than programming knowledge to make the next Google.
A keyword-based search feature in a website or web application is something that'll be more achievable and useful. Many websites use features like that and the off-the-shelf solutions don't always behave exactly the way you'd want. If you can convert a search query and an item to a number, you can easily sort and filter results for display.
