Back on the day when I was just getting started on programming I had very similar questions. You could build a game for the web, but that won't be "hard" enough.

I think you must be referring to a 3D Game with some kind of complexity. In that case my advice would be the following: start by learning the basics, getting used to the language, learning Object Oriented Programming and familiarizing with multiple frameworks.

Then you should find a Game Engine that suits your needs, uses JavaScript as the base programming language, and, very important, you feel comfortable with. Back in the day Unity had JavaScript support, but this is no longer the case. Hope my answer was useful :)
