Davide actually many coders use sources like github which is an open source platform. A platform that in itself has people who compile all sorts of codes to "fix" or modify (some are beta versions of new features)
That all said, to actually run the program and be able to apply/execute it's coding from a website, the program file to download is always compressed into a zip which needs extracted. Then those programs language files need to be basically strung back tonight in something like visual studio,...... Once all the boring stuff is fixed, then all the hard work (usually) pays off and your old program runs the add-on and you are enjoying more app personalizations

I don't know anything about haker culture and I am not interested. For what I know (nothing) it is about exploiting software vulnerability.
To do that you need indeed be able to program.
Then you need to learn how to program in a safe way that know no vulnerability.
Then you need to be creative and find vulnerability that you never believed to exist.
I might be wrong. I am not an hacker.
The takeaway (if there's any) is that you need to improve in programming.
