JavaScript is totally different from java
Differences
Java - main method is called by the developer
Javascript - main method is called by the system.

Java - requires semi colon at the end of each statement;
JavaScript - doesn't require any semi colon

Similarities
Comments are the same in both java and javascript.

Uses
Java is mainly used to make Andriod apps, e.t.c...

Javascript is one of the best languages ever, ever since node.js

Well. Java and Java Script are tottaly different languages. Java was made by a company Called Sun at 90's with the motte: "Write once, runs everywhere." Java was made to write complex softwares that could be used on any device without need to compile the source code twice. (like you need to do with C and C++ for example). On the the other side Java Script was made also on 90's by a Netscape (browser) member as a scripting languange(Just to run on client side and inside the web browser), at the time focused Just to make websites more enjoyable..beautiful and to improve the WEB experience for the user.
Java and Java Script have almost nothing in common but the Name. Today, almost 30 years after the invention of Javascript it's one of the most powerful languages of the present. But it started as a simple script language called Mocha. (They quickly changed the Name for Javascript.)
