No, the only time you'll encounter PHP during this course is when you learn about the GET and POST methods. You'll rather need JavaScript.

If PHP provides the logic, HTML and CSS provide the user interface. For that reason, learn HTML first, then CSS and once you have the basic skills,learn how PHP ties in with it. Don't forget about JavaScript either. It is much much better to learn HTML, then CSS, and then PHP.
