Which one first: data science or machine learning course?

Hey future data scientists/ machine learning experts,

I'm currently finishing the python course here in SoloLearn. Afterwards I want to dive deeper into data science and machine learning programming, but I'm not so sure about which course I should take first. Is there an order which you would recommend because it seems smarter for understanding the conceptual topics of the two courses? E.g. completing the ML course before the DS course since ML technique are used in data science? I'm open and very thankful for every recommendation, advise and hidden knowledge.

For my background: I studied mathematics and did some teaching in statistics as a student assistant back at the university. Therefore I know how to implement stochastic - both descriptive and predictive - models in the programming language R.

Data science is not just a single entity. For a data scientist, one needs to have knowledge of Machine Learning along with other skills like programming, stats, and the ability to handle huge datasets. Data Science uses machine learning in modeling for predicting and forecasting the future from the data. The probability of getting a data science job is more than a machine learning job since there are more openings in data science. If you aim to get a job with better pay then you can concentrate on machine learning.

You can do both in parallel. You will find that the introductions (numpy, pandas, matplot) are quite similar.

Though, given your background, you might want to look at DS with it first...
