printf() returns an int that indicates the number of characters printed.
So first, the inner printf() prints "1", which is 1 character and thus returns 1. The outer printf() prints the value inner returns.
Basically like this:
int a = 1;
int t = printf("%d", a); //t = 1
printf("%d, t);
