To see how superscript looks like, you can put the code below in Code PlayGround in a new Web page and run it. Every number 2 used there is superscript. <sup> and </sup> are html tags to mark the content displayed as superscript:
<p>3<sup>2</sup> + 4<sup>2</sup> = 5<sup>2</sup></p>
There is subscript also. See the numbers in the next line:
<p>sum = a<sub>0</sub> + a<sub>1</sub></p>
