if you're running window, and you're able to run linux, try first running linux to it: it may solve your speed problem... however, if it takes 30 min just to serve a basic laravel file to the browser, I would say that there's another problem... if you're doing intensive computations, you may have a bad algorithm ^^

some virus could persist after factory reset (I was facing one once time)... and maybe persist even by installing and/or linux ^^ anyway, you could try to run linux without installation by booting on a live cd... but are you sure to be able to run linux (and install the needed to run php/laravel as server on it)? because if you're not aware of linux live cd, I doubt...

Hello Once again! AMD processors can give you the best performance and and can last upto 5 years. Where as INTEL can give you upto 10 years. Consider updating to UBUNTU or WINDOWS SERVER. And do you have PV overheating issues??? I have a 15 year old laptop which runs 2gb ram smoothly the only problem I faced was that PC and had a really bad designed HEAT SINK, what I did was I redesigned it, and now it works perfectly fine for me.

Jorge Corante My pc has 4 GB RAM, and uses an AMD RADEON 4 processor. The brand is HP, and like the other products of the company, mine too runs slow. What I did was to kill tasks that weren't important at the moment. Here's what you can do, which might help your pc to operate faster: Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc and wait for the task manager window to load. Click 'Performance' and check whether your RAM is being overused. You can then end the processes which won't crash the pc (not advisable, if you don't know which process to end). This considerably speeds up your computer. This only works in Windows. P.S. If you're not using audio output at the moment, you can safely kill this process: audiodg.exe (aka Windows Audio Device Graph, which uses up the system resources). Another culprit is the Antivirus in your system; they hog-up a lot of RAM and also extensively reads from the disk. If you're left with no choice, then you can halt the Antivirus program.

Jorge Corante How did you reset it? Did you format your drive and then reinstalled Windows from scratch? Simply rebooting wouldn't solve any virus-related programs. Some suggested installing Windows 7. DON'T DO IT!!! Windows 7 has reached its end of life quite some time now and it is vulnerable. Also, take Shubhan 's advice and check your computer's temperature. It could very well be a throttling due to overheating issue, though 30 minutes seems too extreme. Indeed, an SSD would make a huge difference compared to any conventional HDD. However, given that your hard disk works correctly, your computer should function correctly. Which brings me to the next point: are you sure it works correctly? You can find plenty diagnostic tools to check that. Your computer might even have a manufacturer-preinstalled one already. Also, the above applies to the RAM. Faulty RAM could present in a variety of ways, such as a slow computer. Use a diagnostic tool to check it. Please, advice us of the results. I am interested.

I agree with Nboumakis: the temperature of your computer could become critical and extremly slow down its speed ability... if so, you could try to put special cooling paw to your cpu... however, if there's a cooling problem, the better fix would be to change your device ^^

I offered you an alternative solution before evocating the extreme solution of changing computer... anyway, if your computer temperature tends to climb to high, there's no real other alternative solution appart finding a way to cooling it by improving it's ability to do so (by adding fans to help it to be less hot)

I reached the character limit in my previous post. I wanted to add that you should also try and boot into safe mode, just to make sure. If your computer is still slow, it would eliminate the possibility of a common virus.

visph I think that changing the computer would be a bit extreme, if there are other alternatives. Alternatives that would extend the life of the computer either in its current purpose or in a new setting.
