Learn programming as games?!!!

Question

I'm learning programming because I feel I need and love it as I'm working as Electronic engineer
but I'm still not find applications to use it, I'm slowly learning but I hope at the end will find the benefit, any body can tell me what benefits expected from learn of programming and when I expect the benefit will come.

I need some help.

Learning Programming or knowing programming gave a lot of benefits.
Same examples:
- A very logical way of thinking.
- Knowing something new.
- Creating new skills.
- Connect and using this knowledge as benefit (for example creating programs so that the work is resolved faster,...)
- Deepening of the Maths knowledge.
- and many more :)

I will check this but I'm working as instrument and Control part and we have DCS systems from ABB and Emerson and I see ABB specialist have a strong knowledge in computer science and he have specific skills with servers, i don't know much but I learned from him some informations and got some skills, that's why I need to feel confident with programming part

Actually I checked your advice about Arduino but I'm working in power plants and they are not accept any system, i can use the existing design and modify based on existing but cannot go far for different ideas like Arduino

You are right Mr Martin Taylor in the idea of instrumentation and control Engineer should understand how software interacts with hardware and I'm studying programming languages actually to cover this part but I didn't got your point about Arduino as you told I need to understand what I have but for Arduino I need to modify systems to use Arduino
