Sololearn needs cookies?

Every time I go to the Sololearn website to code, it asks me for permission to use my cookies. Why does it need them? If I’m not signed in, I cannot do anything, and if I am signed in them my data should be saved in their database, not on my device. So why does Sololearn want to use my cookies? Note- This question is about Sololearn; thus, it is allowed.

Heya Caleb to the best of my understanding it's a local cookie. it's used to identify your system so you don't have to repeat the process every session, I even tried the site on private mode the cookies asked to be used are necessary, preferences and statistics results you can approve only the required cookies when prompted
