Frustrating Example (deadly promises by JS)

Question

It would be great if anyone kindly explain this example from promises section of JS course. I personally found this example highly frustrating cause many concepts are used out of nowhere and ofc I am new to this.

Currently the only thing that is not letting me complete the course is this part. And I am pretty sure I won't be able to grasp this at least before a week considering the explanation in sololearn. :)
