In the HTML lesson, should I ignore all the lessons before the HTML5 lesson portion begins?

I am a beginner, I think that HTML5 is the current version that is used, so, does that mean that the Sololearn HTML lesson does not REALLY start until the HTML5 portion of the lesson? If so, why would they include the lessons before the HTML5 lessons? Would I be ok if I just focus on the HTML5 lessons? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thank you
