Many modern websites are migrating to Node JS as it has a lot of open-source and well-known frameworks like React, and as it easily supports asynchrounous programming while not for PHP which also has great frameworks like Laravel I just posted my opinion which was established by facts, you may check this article to help you decide : https://www.simform.com/blog/nodejs-vs-php/

Both Node.js and PHP are capable of serving as a website backend. The choice depends on the specific needs of the project. Node.js is often preferred for real-time applications and handling large amounts of I/O, while PHP is popular for traditional web applications with established ecosystems and easy-to-use frameworks. It depends on the specific requirements of the website, but popular choices for backend development are Node.js, Python (with frameworks like Django or Flask), and Ruby on Rails. Each has its strengths and weaknesses, so the best choice will depend on factors like the project's complexity, the team's expertise, and scalability needs.
