How would I go about creating a basic ML AI?

So I have just begun learning about Machine Learning and I am wondering what i a good way to start making my own ML AI? Does it have to be Data Science Specific? I am just curious.

AI is a really broad field , but I'll suggest Kaggle , just go on to that platform , work on datasets , participate in competitions
