Can you save a copy of the code in SoloLearn? Make a new Web code, paste the content of index.html in HTML section, and content of styles.css in CSS section. Save the code, and share its link in your post's Description, following this guide https://www.sololearn.com/post/75089/?ref=app

You should try and see if it works with the style sheet in the same folder as index.html

Location of the CSS file is a thing, whether the CSS file has no fault in its content is another. I asked you to share a saved a copy of the code in order for the others to be able to check the HTML & CSS file content, in case of the latter possibility. Another possibility is the browser might be loading a cached version of the CSS file. Try to bypass the cache system by force reloading the page https://www.wikihow.com/Force-Refresh-in-Your-Internet-Browser But to be more certain this was a path related issue, it is better to share your code link.
