Which would be best to learn for backend development, PHP or Python?

I have studied HTML, CSS and JavaScript. I'm looking to the future wandering what backend I should learn, for practicality of becoming a freelance, self taught, travelling web developer.

For web applications, I suggest you to use PHP instead of Python. It is a powerful language for web development, provides support for many databases (as Python does) and can be easily integrated with third-party applications. However, Python is being more and more used in web apps. So it is up to you.

Thank you everyone for your great advice 🙌😁 I like what you're saying python is the future and how versatile it is so I have options going forward. I think I will choose python then, I'll learn the language and then the framework. Then I will decide what I like better, front end, back end or full stack. Thanks again 😁
