HTML is not a programming language, with HTML you don't learn the basics of programming like variables, conditions, etc. If you want to make websites, learn first HTML. Otherwise, learn Python! ^_^ (Your questions has been done so many times, please, for the next time... use the "Search" button)

If you haven't learned any language yet, then learn HTML then Python or PHP. But first you should start with HTML if you don't know it.

In my opinion basic knowledge of HTML is required for every programmer. I know it is not a programming language but when you will make a website or design a app you must need to use it. @Maz @Edward

@retul you don't need HTML for apps. never will that be the case. HTML is only a necessity for web developers not programmers in general

do python. it is the simplest language. html is simpler, but its not really a programming language

don't get caught up on the language. that's an easy mistake but just pick one. to start I'd recommend Java or JavaScript

@Retul that is true but he asked specifically for a programming language, so i think he should start with python
