I found out very young that a multi-channel mind can be near impossible. I like to think out loud by myself about the concepts, and the code. The music just seems too distracting for the way I like to engage my personal educational study habits.

Meh, I can't listen to anything while coding. :/ It's too hard to write when I can't hear myself think.

Depends on the time of day. Day time = Dubstep and other forms of EDM, Night time = classical, bluegrass, Celtic folk, and various other Nordic style music.

I don't listen much/often to post-rock. But when I'm coding I like to listen to music that is not new to me and is well known to my mind (like Queen or Beatles for example) or is not too intense so "God is an astronaut" became my "coding soundtrack" for last year (or a half, and "Muse"+"Coldplay" somehow there too). And there are some music that I like, but don't listen when I have to concentrate at mindwork, like "Rage Against the Machine" ("Deep Purple", "Sepultura", " RHChP") or other hard rock, metal, rap-core, hardcore... And as I said no new misic while concentrating... and a lot of new music other time. ;) Hmm... now I think I need to try "Morphine" while coding! :-) (Update: Paola reminded me of Tchaickovsky and some of his music is cool for musical background too... and Vivaldi).

I like to mix it up. Tonight I've listened to Twenty-one Pilots, Tech N9ne, Kumbia Kings, Quiet Riot, Adina Howard, and a little Heifetz.
