are macbooks viable for coding?

i have just started learning and i already have a macbook air. would other laptops that run windows and things related be better?

You are fine with the Mac while learning. When creating programs for a different target system you may find options such as emulators, virtual machines or cross-compilers will generally work fine. Many scripting languages try to be OS independent so that isn't a big issue. Ultimately depends on language and project type. For now just get comfortable with programming in general, it's all the same in the beginning.

Yes, you can use any major operating systems. You basically need a mac if you want to develop for iOS (natively).
