Usage of java

Question

I love programming in java, read a few books and a lot of docs. Now I am reading stroustrups book the c++ programmin language and I have to say that I love the possibilities of this language.
Obviously its faster. Yes, java is more readable and stuff like that but are there any desktop apps written in java except java ides and mine craft.
I know that android is almost pure java but I would like to know pure java desktop stuff.

I saw many Java programs (mostly user interfaces) in prduction environments: antenna management interfaces, VDR (voice data recorder - black box) user interface, equipment testing/switching, power plant management ecc...
