also be more specific on what kind of game you want to program: jump and run, simulator, shooter, adventure, rpg, graphic novel.... mouse or keyboard based? single or multiplayer? one pc or via network/internet?

there's no one-size-fits-all guide on game creation.

There is an interesting example of an ASCII based RPG game called Sanctuary. Search the web and you'll find some good idea of very simple text-based RPGs and Adventure games without any graphic. In fact it's a great starting point for you to learn more about the game mechanics and it will brought you a good insight about the whole process if you really want to dive into game programming.
