Why is python stdout able to visually render html when theres a .png file created alongside?

Question

why is the python output able to visually render the html when you create a .png file?

The above code uses `open('.png','w').write('')`

This next one uses os.system('touch .png')

without either of the above snippets, the raw css and html code is what gets printed to the console output

Can someone explain this to me?
