Not every user is online daily, some users are only here for a short period and then disappear forever. If the challenges wouldn't expire, they could be pending forever.

Hm... Maybe you go on top when the challenge is finished by both opponents? Because I receive challenge invitations when a challenged is finished by the opponent that I took hours ago.

I guess that's the way the 'choose an opponent' list works right now. If you take a challenge you go to the top if that list. Or am I wrong?

@Tashi, maybe all I know is that I tried challenging only top of list and it didn't increase my chances of having the challenge accepted. Maybe I've been unlucky. I've looked at the player profiles and some people at the top were last active less recently than some below.

One thing they could do is list challengers who have been active in the last 5 or 10 minutes. You would get a much better chance of finding someone who will accept the challenge.
