Question

How can I disable leaderboards? It makes me rush thru and lose lives.

You can't disable it. But you can ignore it. I rushed through some courses so I could win the Intergalactic Champion achievement. Now I just ignore it. If you ever decide to go for that, the AI courses are easy to breeze through.

Yes, ignore it.
It was perhaps designed to be a motivation target, but if it becomes the main thing to care about, then it is actually detrimental to the learning process.

On the top right there are 3 dots. Tap them and go to settings. Scroll down until you see leaderboard. You can turn it off there. At least this is for Ios version.

To get the Intergalactic Champion achievement I just blew through some languages that I didn’t really care about knowing and using my useless bits whenever I needed. For the coding excersises I simply copy pasted the answers given in the comments.
