What does this use for?

Why many codes here used: <html lang="en"> what does lang="en" even do because without it, the code still works normally

If a blind person has enabled the screen reader accessibility, then it will inform the reader what language it is. It can be written on regular tags too <p lang="fr">Je t'aime</p> (French) Additionally, some characters especially those within utf16 and utf32 and Japanese Aishetemaisu and Maybe some arabic cannot be rendered by some browsers by default, you have to specify so the browser will understand and be able to render them
