What is the next step after learning basics of Java ?

I have learned the basics of java and now want to increase my level. What should I do further and if anyone can mention some projects that I can do will help ?

Basic basic then grab www.oracle.com and then grab Java designing book (for design neat interface of your application)

Try your luck on Android application development .It is very interesting to do for a beginner especially when you are thinking of doing a project.
